I love the lego man! I also love the butterfly shot. I was trying all week myself to find a butterfly to shoot. The only time I saw them was when I was driving and there was no way I was going to get those shots (they say texting and driving is bad, imagine photo shoot and drive!) What I specifically enjoyed about your collage is the color combinations. I pretty much did random placement with mine until I found one that suited. Did you place those on purpose? Because if so, nice job! Even if you didn't it turned out really nice. I like the angles that you chose to shoot different things as well like the sign and the metal star on the bottom right. Nice shots :)
Your collage is very diverse. It brings in different color tones, textures, and composition. I particularly like the second one because it seems to have a sense of balance and uniformity. In the top photo, I like how the broom and the wooden piece seem to be photographed from polar opposite angles.
How on earth did you get that shot of a butterfly?! I tried to get an ant and I ended up looking like a fool chasing the tiny thing around my lawn with my camera.
I really like that shot of the rope around the glass ball, it adds depth to the image and the collage as a whole. I also enjoy the shot of the water splashing because it adds motion and action to otherwise static images. The third photo I really admire is the leaf on the bottom of the second collage (bottom row, second from the left). The texture is beautiful and the way it is lit makes it look like the color is changing. I think it was very well done.
I think it's funny how we all latch onto different things in each other's work. That's one of the great things about art. It can represent something different to each person who experiences it. I never even noticed the Lego man until reading the other posts. I suppose that's because the jumble collage caught my eye more than the even rows. I was drawn toward the tuft of hay, the branch of cobwebs, and the beam joint. I particularly enjoyed the cobweb branch because it is hard to get a back;it picture to look good, but in this instance it works extremely well. There's so much rich color and texture in all of your pictures, and the variety of perspectives unexpected perspectives on objects keep the whole collage moving. Great work with these pieces.
I am loving all the textures you have in these, but my two favorites are the Japanese fishing float made of blown glass, and the rusty metal ring that circles the wooden(?) wedge. The ring and wedge have a very strong organizational layout. I am wishing I could see a number of these full sized before Picasa decided on the cropping for you. There are some really good shots in there but it's hard to tell where the began from the automatic layout/cropping. -J
Oh my lovely! The screen, the metal star on the nail, and the water are my favorite. All of these are really beautiful photos, I mean, I really really love them!
How the heck did you get a photo of that splashing water without getting your camera soaked? What kind of camera and lens are you using?
Oh I really loved this collage. I kept saying "oh this is my favorite picture" then I would scroll down and it was "no this is my favorite"... and so on. I really loved the different textures and different perspectives. I loved the richness of purple in the irises and I loved the angle with the brick wall curving slightly. Powerful piece.
Great variety of photos! I also like how you did the collage in two different ways. I like the second collage as you can really see everything - makes me wish I had done my collage neat and orderly.
Hard to pick a favorite photo - butterfly is great (hard to get I'm sure), but I also like the simple nail in wood where the nail is showing a shadow and half eaten/decomposed acorn and the old wood above the photo of the hostas.
These picture are awesome! I am also wondering how you got a splashing water photo. I love the cobweb on the stick. The sun reflects off of the web nicely. All the pictures came out great.
I also tried taking a picture of a spider web. It did not come out as good as what yours did though. I like how picasa arranged your photos! You did a great job, but I have to say my favorite would have the be the spider web on the top of the stick. I also really like the rusty nail picture. You most have an amazing camera! Thea

P.S. Lego man reminds me of Carrot Top :)

ReplyDeleteThank you for the comments everyone. I'm finding it hard to put myself out there, takes me out of my comfort zone but I like it!
ReplyDeleteP.S For my sons sake I have to tell you that the Lego man is Frodo Baggins :)
