Photoshop

I am having so much fun with photoshop! It was a little tricky for me at first but I find its becoming much easier and enjoyable.

We love Legos and anything to do with Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit!

  1. Hey Abby, these are great! For the first time you've touched Photoshop these are fantastic. You were able to make the images flow nicely despite manipulation. I really like the Lord of The Rings shot - the trees bring your eye up to the light above and the objects in the foreground look like they could have been there for the photo.

  2. I'm still trying to figure out the source images from your first attempt. I definitely see leaves and what looks like water in the background. Layered in the way that you have them so all the ripples show through this looks a little like stained glass. I definitely enjoy the more abstract quality of it, and the greens and blues together are very soothing.

My eye is definitely drawn to the (babboons?) in your second picture, but I think that is partially because I know they don't belong there. It was an interesting choice to find an illustration to add to your photo rather than a picture of the actual animals. You did choose a picture that used a similar lighting source and angle as your landscape, which makes the fit better than one might expect for combined mediums.

Being a bit of a geek myself, I LOVE your LOTR picture. Gandalf looks a little stretched and warped like we're seeing him through a fish eye lens, but Gimli and the hobbit (this little guy strikes me as a Merry or Pippin) look like they could be standing on those rocks. Even the lighting on each LEGO figure looks about right for this scene. My mind goes back and forth between these looking like giant LEGO figures on a human-sized landscape and regular sized LEGOs on a LEGO-sized landscape (like, is that a normal landscape with tall trees and boulders or a macro shot of pebbles and saplings?).
    Nice work.

  3. You did a wonderful job on these pieces. I have to agree with Jen that the layers piece is the most intriguing. The limited color palette and the consistent pattern from both layers make this a great piece.

Thanks for including the originals, so we could see where you started from and what you ended up with.

  8. The little toy soldiers in the woods are fantastic. I especially love the way you have placed them on different levels throughout the image. That really makes it standout and makes for a nice fantasy scene.

  9. You did great this week! I wish I would of had more time to mess around with the program instead of doing it quickly. My computer was messing up and I couldn't download anything not even adobe flash player, but glad I figured it out finally! I absolutely love the first photo with the little men spread around the forest it reminds me of a movie or something out of Willow! I enjoyed looking through your photo's more than anyone's this week I think. You did a great job!! Thanks for sharing!
